Wireless vacuum cleaner: how to choose it?

The wireless vacuum cleaner aspirates and washes the ground in one passage. There’s no need to vacuum the cleaner and then the serpillar. But between autonomy, power, self-cleaning and price, the models are very similar on paper. These are the criteria that really make the difference.

How does a vacuum cleaner work?

A roll moistened by a clean water tank rubs the ground while the suction recovers dirty water and dirt from a second tank. You clean crumbs, dust and stains at the same time. It is designed for hard soils : tile, glass parquet, vinyl, laminate.

The 6 criteria that count

1. Autonomy

It determines the surface you can clean with a milking. Count 35 minutes for an apartment, 50 minutes and more for a house. The Rowenta X-Clean 4 announces up to 50 minutes, the Rowenta X-Clean 12 65 minutes and Tineco Floor One S9 Artist up to 75 minutes.

2. Suction power

It is expressed in pascals (Pa) or kilopascals (kPa). More than 20 kPa, the apparatus is able to remove dry and wet dirt without difficulty: this is the case with the Dreame H15 Pro (21 000 Pa), Rowenta X-Clean 12 (21 kPa) and Tineco S9 (22 kPa).

3. Self-cleaning

After use, the device is placed on its base and rinses lui itself its roller. Some models go further: the Dreame H15 Pro cleans the roller with water heated to 100 °C, which limits bad odours.

4. The passage under the furniture

The Stretch or FlexReach models are almost flat. The Tineco Floor One i5 Stretch Plus tilts to 180° to clean under the sofa or low beds.

5. Cleaning the edges

A roll that goes up to the edge of the cleaning head allows cleaning along the plinths without hand finishing.

6. Animal hair and hair

Washer vacuum cleaner or broom vacuum cleaner?

A vacuum cleaner does not completely replace the classic vacuum cleaner: it is less effective on thick carpets and carpets. If you have a lot of carpeting, a brushed vacuum cleaner with a brush, like the Dyson V10 Submarine, can be more versatile.
